Better fit[]
Given the cover date (Oct 1961) of the issue Dreadful Stories is likely an allusion to the 1950s EC horror anthology series The Vault of Horror, Tales from the Crypt and The Haunt of Fear all of which had the premise of a monstrous host with a tendency to make puns narrating a self-contained horror story.
The comic in itself is interesting as such comics were effectively dead in 1961 thanks to the Comics Code Authority of 1954 and there is no issue number on the cover. This suggests this was a commissioned comic.--BruceGrubb (talk) 00:06, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
